Background

Company overview

Nord Studio is a Berlin-based architecture practice with nearly 10 years on the market. Their projects include mostly high-end residential projects. The practice has a small-scale boutique character.

Type of comission

I have been appointed as a freelance designer to single-handedly design and implement a website for Nord Studio.

Scope of work

Although the practice's portfolio includes more than 50 individual projects, Nord Studio has never had a website which would showcase their work. The process included selection and art direction of the office's visual content, information architecture, webdesign as well as no-code implementation.

Art direction

One of the objectives was to sort through the visual content available in the studio's archive and create a strong narrative. I have selected imagery which alternates between different scales - from detailed to more global in order to showcase the unique versatility of the practice.

At Nord Studio, we design both buildings and interiors. We always put a strong focus on materiality, craft. What is also important to us is strong sensitivity to context.

Iterative design process

Through feedback from the clients, some proposals get rejected and others become refined, before they become the final product. This approach ensures an adaptable design that evolves over time rather than being finalized in one go. Here are some examples of the rejected proposals.
